We Have Heart To Serve Everyone (Organizational Background)

Support initiative for health, education and Development – Destiny Group is a local Community Based Organization registered in Kenya under CBO’s coordination act. Destiny Group has been in existence since 2005. The principle role of Destiny Progressive Group is to empower, enhance community participation in the areas of its mandate that include, Health rights, Child Education, Nutrition, Water and Sanitation and Environmental conservation. Destiny Progressive Group is registered with the office of the provincial Director of social service Nairobi County,Destiny is a fast growing Community Based Organization, which was founded in the early 2005 following the rising need of support of Youths,Women,Girl Child/Boy Child Empowerment,Orphaned children affected or infected by HIV/AIDS Our Core Mandated is to Sensitize, Empower, Transform and Support community to promote Livelihood.in 2005 the founding directors considered registering it under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development in order to focus more on issues related to HIV/AIDS. It was not until 2005 Novembers 13th that the organization was registered as a Community Based Organization (Registration No. KAS/CBO/5/4/2005/188). Today, the organization boasts of having over 50 Members specialized in various fields. The organization is engaged in Advocacy and Awareness, Project Management activities, Feeding, Clothing, Education, Counseling and Street outreach..

Programme aims to protect the environment and improve opportunities for young people towards secure and sustainable livelihoods,through Planting Tree's&encourage use of Green House Tecnology ,Natural Resources Management,Pollution,Waste Management,Energy & Climate Change

Waste Management Project

The Waste Management project set two phases to achieve these goals. The first phase is to organize and expand networks within communities and make action plans to improve waste management systems and implement the action plans. This phase includes raising awareness of waste management in a community and the importance of sorting waste for recycling among households and business entities and uniting youth groups of a community towards improving waste management systems. The second phase is to initiate income generating activities based on the improved waste management systems. All phases are based on the concepts of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” waste.

Environmental Conservation Programme

Proper waste management is mandatory if there is any expectation of having a clean and ambient environment. The encouragement is that it is possible to manage waste if all the players are involved right from the onset. This has to do with the production of the waste, which ultimately touches on the efficient use of resources. Our emphasis on waste management is not meant to denigrate the importance of the other services we offer. We look at this as the main problem in urban centres, much more so because the generation of is a natural course of human activities, it is unavoidable. Innovative approaches that are inclusive are required as a strategy towards effectively addressing the concerns of waste management particularly in the urban sector,As part of the innovative approach Destiny Group is set to start up a waste recycling plant. This portends good for the residents of Nairobi,Mombasa,Kisumu,Nakuru,Busia,Nyeri in several way:

Research,Training And Follow up

The project deals with building skills in group leadership, Team building, Financial management, Business Skills and personal leadership. This is the start up project for almost all the youth groups we work with. The project also provides business grants as well as business advisory and consultancy services. All this is aimed at ensuring that the youth can be self reliant. This is the entry project in to other Destiny Group programs. We recruit 10 groups each year. Each youth group undergoes a 3 day training at their own areas of operation for as both a first and second year group. The groups also undergo a three day training in Leadership and this training brings together all first year groups. After the first trainings, the groups are linked up to the youth desk project where they can access other services. The training and research project also offers monitoring and evaluation services and networks the groups to work with other like minded organizations. to support our project get intouch with us......

DESTINY COMMUNITY LIBRARY

Destiny Organization and Community intervene in several issues affecting marginalized groups. The library was started through local donations and contribution from members of the community with an objective of promoting education and support needy orphans and street families within the slum of Nairobi and we are looking forward to spread to other areas around us and other county within kenya,community to receive knowledge and education through this noble project, which is to bring light in the form of knowledge and education to the people living in slums and rural area where they cant access books, thus overcoming illiteracy.

Digital Generation (Era)

The Internet Access point: The library seeks donation of computers which will serve as an internet point and ICT training, this is one of the most important resources where users have an opportunity to use internet search engines for research. Other uses of the internet are allowed as long as they are consistent with the set down rules and within legal parameters. The library targets to have 20 computers for efficiency, this is an area where by the library can be self sustainable.
DVDs and audio CDs: In the library’s shelves, we have Motivational, Biographical, and Academic for lower classes as well as entertaining cartoons for children and Historical documentaries.

We strive to create a rapport with the street kids and scout for varied gifting and talents that would offer an ideal inroad for reintegration back to the society,This activity entails sharing the love of God with the abandoned and unreached children who only know the streets as their home,As part of our strategy during this exercise, we have attempted to create awareness on matters that affect the youth e.g. Drug and substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, and the need to have a sound sense of good personal hygiene,Through simple acts of giving clothes and food rations donated to the center by well wishers, the community’s perception and attitude towards the street kids has been impacted positively and various individuals are looking at the boys with compassion and love. . .

Do you have the time, skills, passion and expertise in Community Development or related technology, and you want to share and make an impact on youth's life? Then don’t hesitated to get in touch with us, we usually have local and international guest speakers or lectures incorporated in our training Programme. We source for people who love to share what they are doing without expecting a pay but rather have the passion of impacting positively to the lives of youth who aspire to be Great Leaders, gurus, entrepreneurs, project managers etc in Our Society.
The volunteer is expected to make a formal application using Destiny Group form provided. (Download the form here)

The volunteer is expected to give a clear timetable of his/her availability and lesson to be shared. Kindly make any prior request of any training materials that Destiny Group needs to organize. The volunteer is expected to organize for their own accommodation, food and transport etc. Destiny Group will offer free advice on where to source for the best services on a request basis.
Upon arrival at Destiny Group the volunteers will be oriented about Destiny Group and our environment. A briefing meeting will be held to agree on the MOU and contract which the volunteer will be provided with a copy, The final stage will involve filing of a feedback form provided by Destiny Group. The volunteer will be expected to write a report about his/her experience whilst Destiny Group will provide a letter of recommendation to the volunteer upon completion.
